PASQAL designs and develops Quantum Processing Units and dedicated software tools. Software Engineer – Instrumentation and Data Analysis

You will join the software team within the Engineering and Production (E&P) department, which develops and industrializes ground-breaking technologies for Pasqal Quantum Processing Units (QPUs).

You will mainly be in charge of assisting the hardware team to maintain and improve the software controlling the QPUs, in pair with a senior developer.

The control software of the QPUs is a large Python code transferred from the R&D team. It has to be maintained, partly refactored and expanded to contribute to the effort of the hardware teams, to achieve leading-edge physics experiments using industrial-grade systems.

The code will eventually be replaced with a more robust solution being developed; you will oversee the transition and make sure that the machine remains operational.

In parallel, you will develop advanced data analysis tools to help the research team to get the best out of the data generated by the QPU.

Your key missions and responsibilities will include:

  • Ramping-up on the existing code base.
  • Ensuring software support for the hardware teams (in R&D and E&P departments).
  • Developing user interfaces to display data generated by the QPUs, with PyQt.
  • Taking user feedback into account to include it in software specifications and develop new features.
  • Planning, developing and implementing the refactoring of the codebase to converge with the new architecture.
  • Developing and implementing additional software to control new hardware instruments and modules.

Qualification & experience

You own a MS level in Computer Science or Physics.

Your professional cursus provided you with 1+ year of experience with python development, and with a strong experience in data analysis.


The successful candidate will demonstrate a keen interest in new technologies and scientific challenges.

He/she will have a strong ability to work autonomously, with limited direction.

The following skills will be highly appreciated:

  • knowledge in instrumentation,
  • significant knowledge of PyQt (or of a Python UI framework),
  • knowledge in Linux, source control (Git)
  • knowledge of web front-end development appreciated

English professional proficiency is mandatory to work in PASQAL’s international environment.
