PASQAL designs and develops Quantum Processing Units and dedicated software tools. As a Kernel Quantum Software developer, your focus will lie on the further development of PASQAL’s low-level quantum software libraries, which serve as the interface between the user and the quantum devices, at various levels of abstraction and complexity.
These specific modules are the backbone of PASQAL’s software stack; they are exploited in-house by the Quantum Applications team as well as by the Clients who use our technology. Their quality is therefore of paramount importance for the development of PASQAL’s activity. You will support their constant progress taking into account the evolving Quantum Computing environment and scientific advances, while ensuring suitable performance and documentation.

Qualification & Experience
- MSc level or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related fields.
- Solid knowledge and experience with Python 3.
- Past experience in a comparable position and / or demonstrable contributions to open-source software projects.
- Notions of quantum computing, atomic physics and optics.
Other valuable assets:
- Exposure to hardware programming, particularly with microcontrollers or FPGAs.
- Familiarity with other quantum programming frameworks, such as Cirq.
As the chosen candidate, your most valuable skill is the ability to write quality Python code that is well structured, tested and properly documented. You should be able to work independently with limited direction, in a code development environment where you will be asked to review others’ code, give meaningful feedback and be subjected to the same process. This also implies familiarity with version control, particularly with Git and GitHub.
Additionally, your position will involve close cooperation with other members of the software team, as well as frequent contacts with external collaborators on open-source projects. This will require a good level of interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with your peers.
Finally, as you will be integrated in an international working environment, fluency in written and spoken English is required.
